Revenant Bound - Chapter 4: Arrangements
Chapter 4: Arrangements
Vasedra
About an hour later, Vasedra stands just inside the door of the simple quarters, watching as Ary wanders the room, inspecting the organic bed with a mattress of some sort of spongy, liquid-rich membrane and the storage shelves of bone and sinew and the chair and desk arrayed against the wall.
"You'd be near enough to mine to reach me easily, here. Also, it takes a little bit of time, but the room furnishings can be rearranged to your tastes."
Araatris
Ary nods. "It's fine. I don't need anything that specific. They're rebuilding my apartment, for free, to my specifications. This is just for travel." She strides over to the desk and runs her hand over it. "This will do quite nicely. Is there anything I should know about this room? Locks for example."
Raeisley
Raeisley stays passively outside in her usual posture running along the edge of coyness and a cordial woman. "From what we've seen I'd be shocked if we didn't see it have the feature to morph chairs from the floor."
Vasedra
The void knight shakes her head at Raeisley. "Only specific rooms have the correct... setup for easy manipulation. The quarters do not. As I said, it is possible, but it takes time for the Revenant to grow and absorb structures in a room such as this."
Her false blue gaze turns to Ary, and she clicks over to an area beside the door where the silver tracery converges into an especially dense shape that is rough oval. "Your controls are here, but ... the ship prefers interface. If you touch it, he may be more demanding than you would be comfortable with. Simply tell him what you want with your voice. Door locks or otherwise."
Or tell me what you want if he is being stubborn, Ary. The open silence behind her thoughts is hidden as the eredar turns away and wanders across the room to the small viewing panel made from the same material as the observation room. I will see to it that he becomes accustomed to you.
Araatris
"Of course. Thank you. I'll let you know if I have any issues, but this should be fine." Ary slides into the seat. "If you want to take care of other things, I can settle in here. I'm sure it's safe enough." She smirks. "If any of your crew doesn't respect boundaries, I'll be sure to gently remind them."
Vasedra
Vasedra nods and heads for the door. Her tone is wry, but the amusement doesn’t make it to her face under the cowl. "Very well. Try not to do any damage that can't be repaired. If possible."
She pauses in the doorway to glance back out of the corner of her hood. "We... will be back, soon."
The void knight's head swings around. "Won't we, Raeisley?"
Raeisley
She shrugs raising a tendril up like a tiny finger. "That quite depends on how difficult we want to be with each other, darling ♪ Could be a few passionate moments or a sultry hour"
Vasedra
The other eredar sighs. "We will be back soon, Ary." She beckons to the Siren as she clicks out the door with a final mumble of, "I can hope..."
Araatris
Ary waves a hand, barely glancing to see if the door closes behind them. "Of course."
Raeisley
The Paramour sweeps beside Sedra with a chime. "By the end of the month we'll have you taking a modicum of pleasure from my presence, love ♪ Tah-tah Ary~" Leaning her head next to her companion's she purrs her next inquiry. "Time to discuss the terms of our agreement then?"
Vasedra
"Yes, Raeisley. Let's discuss terms. If I invite you to my quarters for the privacy, will you contain your excitement?" the void knight asks, gesturing down to the end of the hall.
Raeisley
She presses two fingers to her collar bone, eyes close shifting down. "My heart is a tempest but I will posture as the sea before such if it helps cure your anxieties, darling."
Vasedra
"Thank you." Sedra says it dryly, neutrally as her hooves click on the deck. She heads for the next door down on the opposite side of the hall, the distance between it and the next closest doorway is an indicator of the room's size before they've even seen the interior.
The unornamented portal expands open at their approach, revealing the comfortable, sizable suite of rooms beyond. It may not be the opulence the Siren said should be a requirement, but it is a warrior's stateroom nonetheless. Designed for a different warrior long ago.
It has many of the same organic decorative elements as the observation gallery did, including large transparent walls between the sleeping space and the comfortable work and lounging space. A fleshy couch grows against the wall under more clear panels, and a large desk is an island of efficiency on the other half of the room.
Sedra sweeps into the space with barely a glance around, pulling her gauntlets off out of habit and tossing them on a shelf.
Raeisley
Raeisley wastes not a moment beelining to the bed whisking across the room like a sail caught in a trade wind gliding around the wall to the bed. She looms about to leap into it like a excited child but instead twirls and takes a seat, crossing her legs she resists the urge to appear too haughty and refrains from bobbing her hocks.
"Smaller than I'd like but it'll do. Can it morph like the other rooms? We'll need a space for meditations - an isolation chamber of sorts ♪"
Vasedra
The other eredar follows her at a more sedate pace, answering, "Given a few days, yes. Perhaps you can describe your desires to me."
Raeisley
"A small chamber, something you need to crouch into - room for two but scarcely when sitting...." She reclines back her hands gripping the edge of the bedding. "And it needs to be able to be flooded, actually can this entire room be made to do so?" She scans up the eredar's form a toothy smirk rising out of her simper.
"But I'm getting ahead of myself aren't I. You had some objections and such~"
Vasedra
In the lighting of the cabin, Sedra's half-worried and half-curious expression is easy to make out, even though she doesn't take her cowl down. She clears her throat before leaning a hip against the wall, her arms folding across her breastplate.
"Right. Objections. You owe me a description of this mission you want me to undertake for you."
Raeisley
"Were going to stop the murder of innocents, simple as that darling." She cants her head to the left still observing the woman with questionable intent. "There is a vessel, a ship of sorts hiding in the Forbidding sea. Its goal is to reach Westfall and poison the Alliance's bread basket. We our going board and cleanse the vessel of all undead before setting it off course eastward. Once it crashes the toxins should dilute into the ocean."
Vasedra
Sedra tilts her head. "Undead? This is a Horde attack?"
Raeisley
"Correct ♪ Do we have any snacks... I love snacks, and I didn't eat the curry that was brought to me for obvious reasons. I could go for a nibble of fruit." She breaks her interrogation of the knight to scan for subsistence.
Vasedra
The void knight gives her a droll look. "You'll find there is no food in my quarters. Perhaps you should have eaten your dinner."
She shrugs. "The goal being to protect the food stores?"
Raeisley
Raeisley perks her brow. "No, love. We're going to board the ship and kill everyone aboard then send it off course into the depth. As I had just explained. If we fail then perhaps that is an option, assuming they don't go elsewhere with the toxins."
Vasedra
"You... but why would we do this thing, if not to thwart their mission, to protect the food stores they want to poison?" The other woman tilts her head once more, confusion on her face.
Raeisley
"Aww, I understand the question now, darling and yes and no and yes. I take it you have no objections for us stopping civilians from being slaughtered." Raeisley points a tendril at Sedra.
Vasedra
The void knight nods slightly. "It sounds like a worthy mission."
So why does she watch Raeisley with mild suspicion in her expression?
"What else should I know about the task?"
Raeisley
"We'll be underwater, dress light and bring something that you can thrust with ease." Raeisley leans forward forming a steeple with her fingers she smiles innocently while her tail flicks behind her with devious excitement. "I'd never lie to you, Sedra, least now just before we bind our goals together ♪"
Her brow perks as a idea catches her eyes. "You can swim can't you?"
Vasedra
"I... don't like being in water, Raeisley. We're not well suited to each other." Vasedra wrinkles her nose with a little sigh. "But I think I have enough control to manage it for a time. What type of vessel is this that will require us to be submerged?"
Raeisley
"It will seem like a galley but underwater, it'll all make sense when we arrive and board, as to where on board the toxins will be held? That is speculation but I have a clever hunch it'll be in the hull." She pauses closing her eyes and savoring the death of noise. "That is all I have for you in that regard, anymore questions, darling? Before I put my own to your throat."
Vasedra
There are a couple of long moments while Sedra watches Raeisley quietly, thoughtfully, before she nods. "Very well. No more questions. I believe it's your turn."
Raeisley
"You should learn to ask more ♪ If you have none then I ask you this, love. Is there anything you feel I should know in good confidence?" She holds out her pinky to the knight with a smile. "Anything at all that I should know. We'll be trusting each other with our souls when we begin training. There can't be any doubt between us - if not then let us make the promise then."
The Paramour's simper fades to a disappointment, a dull rumble of a frown that last for but a sentence. "And if I do find out you were hiding something vital from myself... our promise is broken and we shall never deal with each other again."
Vasedra
The void knight's brow furrows, and she glances aside out the row of exterior viewing panels that show the night sky and the dark ocean over the head of her bed.
"And how am I to know what you consider 'vital', Siren? You know little enough about me, but I think tonight is already long in the tooth for me to reveal the full details of all the aeons of my lives. I may not need much sleep, but one presumes you do. And I know Ary does."
Raeisley
"Any conflicting loyalties all ready not known, important dispositions medical or otherwise." She pops her lips leaning back.
"When are you getting your slave tattoos like the others. Are they just markings or runes of power. Franky they looked like dampers."
Vasedra
Vasedra sighs and hesitates unhappily before raising a hand to grip the edge of her chain-backed leather cowl. "I am... marked already. The tattoos seem to protect my sanity, somewhat, and focus me."
With that, she pulls the hood back, disabling the glamour and revealing the swirling depths of her black eyes and the felsteel bands and filigrees of metal that cover her horns. It takes a moment before she looks at Raeisley, her cowardly gaze lingering at the windows.
The tattoos that mark her skin aren't visible, yet.
Raeisley
Raeisley cringes, pulling back like a brand was struck at her hand. "Light, your horns!" She stumbles back onto the bed disgusted.
"For what purpose." Raeisley mouths crawling back forward to get a better look at the woman going as far as to leave her cushiony bed and rise to inspect her further. She gingerly touches the filigree with her ring finger caressing the metal till she reaches the band and again repulsed.
"No purpose at all" she murmurs her expression fighting between resentment and a empathetic frown.
"What metal is it?"
Vasedra
Sedra ends up looking away to the side at the floor through Raeisley's reaction, her expression staying brittle and carefully neutral. Her arms unfold and flop down by the swords on her belt, fists clenched.
"I'm not entirely sure. It seems to be some sort of alloy of felsteel," she says softly, inflectionless.
Raeisley
Her lips purse letting a air grow stale between them. "They do not appear to be slide on... are they?"
She doesn't give her a chance to reply instead moves her hand to stroke the knight's shoulder.
"Is there anything else I should know about?"
Vasedra
Grouchy, she shrugs the Paramour's hand from her armor and steps away, starting to work on the buckles on the underside of her pauldrons. "How about the fact that I don't particularly like being touched? You're just begging to end up with frostbite, Siren."
Sedra sighs and mutters, "I have had many loyalties over the millennia. Now, they are... complex. I don't know what else you need to know, and you threaten dissolution if I fail to realize what you require."
Raeisley
"Simply be honest, love. Anywho loyalties that would be a threat to myself or wish destruction of what we all whole dear. The exception being of your new master's disposition to purge all void. I compromised much by showing you the shrine, something I feel you understood and shared something dear to yourself also."
She sweeps around to the other shoulder, her fingers searching for the strap where her instincts guides her. Her actions are quick and purposeful, lacking the usual sensational flare. "The touch - like all my actions has purpose and I've been closer to colder-hearted women." There is the expectation of a smirk which she declines keeping to a cool thoughtful curl on her lips.
Vasedra
Sedra subsides, allowing her ministrations while she finishes the other strap and says, "I don't know what you hold dear, Siren. Tell me that, and I might know whether or not any part of me is a threat to it. It's only fair; you know what I value."
Raeisley
"Family and my knights are the true ones of important. I disdain the Kirin Tor and the dragon flights but will make exception to aid either if it is for either of the former." Pulling off a pauldron she places it upon the bed before turning back.
"If you're overly fond of either were going to have some tension at moments but nothing we can't work around ♪"
Vasedra
The void knight mutters a 'thank you' as she lays the second pauldron beside the first. She doesn't make a move to remove any other pieces of armor as she turns to Raeisley.
"I have no great love of the Kirin Tor, nor any feeling save perhaps irritation at their lack of security. Nor do I have much association with dragon flights. The only ways I can conceive of my loyalties coming in conflict with yours are if you get in the way of one of the Bloodbinder's goals or if you try to harm my friends. The Netherbane are... important to me."
Sedra wanders restlessly over to the head of the bed and pulls the nameless blades from their sheathes, being extra careful to keep them silent despite the way they chatter and mutter and keen in her head. She lays them in a pair of ill-fitted metal hooks in the wall, the first foreign material Raeis has seen in the ship's structure.
Raeisley
"I suppose I will spare you the hard questions of 'ifs' and simply expect you to stab me at any moment at your master's behest." Raeisley follows behind her reaching for the straps of the breast plate with the adapted ability as before, she seems no stranger to platemail and its workings, another mystery to add to her shroud.
"I'll ask one final time, anything else love before I bind you with the most potent of magics to our promise ♪" She chuckles.
Vasedra
"I can think of nothing else," Vasedra says with a little frown, swatting the other eredar's hands away. "I can do that myself. You just focus on telling me what you mean by potent magics? I've had my fill of tattoos and rituals of binding."
Raeisley
Raeis slides closer in response to the rebuke, cupping the hand that swatted her. "It's a sacred and intimate ritual~ first we bind our little fingers like this."
The paramour adjusts their hands to meet, wrapping her pinky around Sedra's.
Vasedra
Blinking, the other eredar allows her hand to be captured, but she grumbles, "Weren't we just talking about the touching thing?"
Raeisley
"You'll get used to it and eventually maybe even enjoy my annoyance. And it's part of the binding." She winks before continuing.
"Next we slowly rotate our knuckles to touch, then press our thumbs together completing the circuit"
Vasedra
Though she looks about as wary as someone staring at a dagger, Vasedra performs the odd hand contortions Raeisley demands.
Raeisley
Raies simpers back popping her lips. "I promise to be your mentor to what I know and safeguard you from the pitfalls of our mutual desires"
She releases her hand and sweeping it behind her back to join the other, restraining them by the wrist with her tail once more.
Vasedra
The void knight blinks at her, dark eyes flashing as she reclaims her hand. "That's... it?"
Raeisley
"Correct~ you're now under my wing as the druids say" she drifts away moving to the side of the bed. Capricious as always she tosses her arms to the air and falls into the cushions of the bed with childish adornment of the soft bed. Twisting and rolling into the bed, she eventually stops, her eyes watching the knight.
Vasedra
Again, Sedra hesitates as she watches the Siren's presumptive and happy acrobatics in her bed, and finally her lips quirk up on one side. "I somehow expected a little more pomp and madness, perhaps a wild shadow appendage or a traveling eye. At the least, some oath demanded of me. Everything else aside, you never cease to surprise me, Raeisley."
Raeisley

She looks aside for a moment, thoughtful, and there's the merest flicker of her attention toward nothing obvious in the corner before she nods (to herself?) and straightens, lowering her hands to her side.
"I promise to be your... ward, to learn from you with open mind and respectful obedience. And I shall try not to let the... 'pitfalls of my desires' become your problem."

"And she is no fool; she must know the dangers she faces being around me so that she can be informed and take her own measures of protection. "Ary's sanctuary is elsewhere. But the Revenant and my crew must be familiar to her." She brushes her fingers lightly across one blade and then the other, their wails and maddened laughter in her head. "I made a promise to her as well."
